2018 Round 2 - Mitta Mountain Rally

The second round of the MTA NSW Rally Championship was the Mitta Mountain Rally, held at Mitta Mitta in Victoria, near Albury / Wodonga on Saturday 5th May.

The rally was also a round of the East Coast Classic Rally Series, as well as the Victorian Rally Championships.. Fifty competitors started from the Mitta Mitta sportsground, ahead of five challenging closed road special stages and a competitive distance of over 130 kilometres of timed driving.

The quality field was headed by a brace of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions, with Tim Wilkins, Tom Clarke and JJ Hatton all expected to push hard for outright honours in the NSW competition of the event.

The 50-car field was a good mix of old and new. Subaru’s and Mitsubishi’s were likely to push for podium honours, but the entry list also contained everything from Ford Fiestas, through to Honda Civics, Holden Commodores, Hyundai Excels, and even a BMW 325E.
