MTA NSW Sponsored Aussie Racing Cars Driver at SuperSprint Tasmania

Round 2 – Tasmania SuperSprint

9 April

Showcasing some of the best racing seen in its class in a long while, the next chapter has closed on one of the most intense weekends for MTA NSW sponsored Aussie Racing Cars driver, Kody Garland. Garland maintained his position alongside the leading pack for most of the race in Round Two of the Tasmanian SuperSprint at Symmons Plains Raceway.

True to form, MTA NSW driver Kody Garland didn’t make it easy on them, throughout all four races there was a few drivers fighting for the top spot, “I was in a few really good battles and learned heaps!” Kody said.

Starting on P2, Leigh Bowler took the lead from Kody on P1 and was ‘pinged’ a 5 second post-race penalty due to his front wheels being over the start line when he rolled up on to the Grid, “I had no radio so I didn’t know” he later said.  Bowler & Garland finished in 5th & 6th respectively.

In the final race, Garland was out of 4th position which meant he was sitting in 4th for the rounds points, an ideal spot.  Kody said , “Got 3 laps into the race and the ignition wire broke so the engine stopped. Not the way we wanted it to end but that’s racing! Learned so much this weekend and finished every race in the top 10 that I finished and was very close to the front pack, still a lot of positives to take from the weekend. Can’t wait for Darwin in 2 months’ time!!

Western Sydney Motorsport’s Justin Ruggier, took the overall spoils for the race meeting and Adam Uebergang was second for round 2 overall. Third place went to Super2 ‘pro’ Bryce Fullwood, and team owner Craig Thompson also won the Gold Cup.

MTA NSW congratulates all competitors and Kody Garland Racing Team on an amazing Second Round battle at Tasmania.

The Aussie Racing Cars Series returns for Round 3 at Darwin Triple Crown on June 14 -16.
