2019 Australian V8 Superboat Championships Round 1 – Keith, SA 23rd March

MTA NSW congratulates both Scott Krause and Rachel Parsons of Auto and Marine in Temora, for a remarkable 2nd place in Round 1 of the V8 Superboat Championships. Despite experiencing mechanical issues and being unable to race in their “little baby” KAOS, they still flew in just behind Phonsy Mullan with only a 0.063 second difference.

After an epic season taking last year’s Australian Unlimited Superboat Class Championship, MTA NSW sponsored driver, Scott Krause, was back in the seat last weekend to commence a seven round title race with challengers across both the Unlimited, and International Group A categories in South Australia.

Scott’s challenge began well before the race with some work to do in the off-season after the fire that plagued him during the Cabarita round of the World Series, the mighty twin-turbo V8 that powered the Temora local to the 2018 Australian Unlimited Superboat title.

In 2018 for the first time in the sports history Krause shared the Unlimited Superboat crown with - at that time - six - time Australian Champion Phonsy Mullan. Determined to “drive like he stole it” again and, unaffected by “engine trouble” plus the unexpected need to use a fellow racer Michael Cunningham and Narelle Grayland’s True Blue boat, Scott surged ahead saying, “We will be on the track in slightly different colours”.

Scott’s partner, Rachel Parsons summed it up well saying, “Wow Wow Wow.  Never even sat in it before and we have managed to place 2nd in round 1 of the V8 Superboat Championships…. even if we weren’t in our little baby. 5 weeks to round 2 and hopefully get her back on the water”.

The Superboat Championship racing series will be contested over 6 more rounds in NSW with Round 2 in Temora, Colin Parish Memorial on the 4th May.

MTA NSW again congratulates the team of Scott Krause and Rachel Parsons, along with all the competing teams.
